About the DJ
Denise “DJ Lady Love” Briggs is an experienced DJ with over 40 years in the industry. Originally from the Bronx and raised in Queens, Denise discovered her passion for Hip Hop DJing in 1978. She developed her skills by playing small parties and then performed at the famous Fantasia in Queens. From there, it was history.
DJ Lady Love has shared the stage with iconic artists such as The Disco Twins and Infinity Machine, Grand Wizzard Theodore, Crash Crew, the Fearless Four, Kurtis Blow, Grandmaster Flash and the Furious 5, Special K of The Treacherous Three, and Doug E. Fresh. She’s featured in the Queens Public Library’s Hip Hop Pioneers Photo Exhibit, curated by Ralph McDaniels, and has received citations from the Bronx and Queens Borough Presidents.
Always moving, she’s experienced plenty of shows and events, taught music classes, and earned awards. She’s collaborated with 206 Zulu, MOPOP, and Starbucks. For MOPOP, she’s been the DJ at numerous events including the opening party for Ruth E. Carter, an Oscar-winning costume designer, and the closing for the Contact High Exhibit with Joe Conzo Jr and Fab 5 Freddy.
