About the DJ
Avery Usita first tuned into DANCE 89.5 in the late 1990s, a passion that carried through to this day. The Drive@Five shows, particularly those hosted by Victor Menegaux and DJ Tamm, were a significant draw. He often dreamed of the day he would have the opportunity to share DJ mixes on the show, captivating the Seattle audience just as they had.
In 2003, he had the fortune of connecting with Victor and Tamm, leading to a collaboration on the airwaves of Club Kiss 106.1 in Seattle. This experience not only allowed him to work alongside the two talented DJs but also form lasting friendships.
2005 brought Avery a major life change when he enlisted in the Air Force. As he was stationed around the world, working with DANCE 89.5 remained a distant dream. In 2010, while stationed in Germany, Avery submitted mix demos to the station. But sadly he didn’t get a response right away.
Proving patience and persistence pay off, nearly 9 years later those same mixes came to light and led to Avery being invited to be a part of the Drive@5 team. He was thrilled to see his dream come to fruition.
