Public Radio & Digital Media

DANCE 89.5 is a leader in radio and digital media.  We produce live shows, stream worldwide, and create original digital content across multiple platforms.

Teach & Educate

With over 100 students a semester, DANCE 89.5 provides a supportive learning environment that starts in the classroom and quickly jumps into real life work experience.  We mentor students one-on-one as they host live air shifts, write social media, record and edit podcasts, and engage with the community at events.

Community First, Always

At DANCE 89.5, community is at the heart of everything we do.  We connect our listener community through live events, local outreach, and collaborations with artists, organizations, and nonprofits.  Whether we’re spinning music at an area festival or supporting causes that matter to our audience, we’re proud to be a vibrant, inclusive voice in the community we serve.

Our history in a nutshell

From KNHC to c89.5 to DANCE 89.5

Over the years, from humble beginnings as a low power AM station, KNHC has expanded our reach and evolved our programming, becoming the well-respected name in the world of electronic dance music we are today.

Our audience from Seattle to the world

Thanks to our powerful signal and global online streaming, DANCE 89.5 reaches hundred of thousands of listeners across the Puget Sound region and around the world.

While the map shows our ‘guaranteed’ broadcast coverage, listeners tell us they easily hear us as far north as Bellingham, south to JBLM, and as far west as Port Townsend.  Wherever, however you listen, you’re connected to the pulse of electronic dance music. So crank it up and tell a friend.

Some big names have been discovered on 89.5

From Black Box and Daft Punk in the 1990s to Lady Gaga and Calvin Harris in the 00’s & beyond, we’ve had the honor of breaking some of the biggest names in dance music and beyond – all from with in Nathan Hale High School.

Get your music on the air waves

Who’s that with Harmony? Yep, it is indeed Lady Gaga. We were the first in the nation to play her breakthrough single “Just Dance” way back in 2008. And maybe you have created the next big hit. Now, we just have to hear it…
